Many P2D cabinet refinishing projects fall in the $3,000–$8,500 CAD range. That is a useful planning number, but the right price comes from the actual door count, cabinet condition, preparation and finishing details—not floor area alone.
What determines the price?
The largest driver is the amount of visible cabinetry. Count doors, drawer fronts, exposed cabinet ends, islands, crown moulding and decorative panels. A small kitchen with detailed glazing can require more work than a larger kitchen with simple slab doors.
- Condition: grease, failed coatings, chips and water damage require additional cleaning or repair.
- Material: wood, MDF, laminate and melamine need different preparation and primers.
- Colour change: moving from dark wood to white can require more sealing and finish work.
- Access: tight appliance clearances, tall panels and complex trim affect on-site labour.
Refinishing, refacing or replacing?
Refinishing normally costs the least because it keeps suitable existing doors and cabinet boxes. Refacing includes new doors and drawer fronts, so it costs more but can change the profile. Full replacement becomes appropriate when the layout must change or the cabinet boxes are damaged.
How to get a useful estimate
Send wide photos of every cabinet wall, close-ups of damage, the city and an approximate door and drawer count. Mention whether you want the same door style, a new profile or help deciding. P2D can then identify the likely path and confirm whether an in-home assessment is required.
Online ranges are for planning. A written estimate should identify preparation, components, finish, installation and any exclusions before work begins.
